Orthopaedic Surgeons: Virtual support for patients available

COF
Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation

At a time when surgeries need to be postponed or cancelled, and in person support is not available for pre-surgical patients, surgeons may be looking for virtual tools for patients. The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation is available to help.

The COF has a virtual library of booklets, pamphlets and videos all designed to support patients in every step of their orthopaedic journey, for many different conditions. Check out our library of resources, and do refer your patients.

As well, we have connected with the Arthritis Society and are pleased to tell you about the Society’s Arthritis Rehabilitation and Education Program (AREP)  Please note, these services are  available in Ontario only, and are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

AREP’s services are fully aligned with the needs of patients who are waiting for surgery. See AREP’s Virtual Management of Osteoarthritis for more details.

Virtual consultations will be individualized for the patient’s needs and may include arthritis self-management, education on symptom control, therapeutic exercise instruction, functional and mobility recommendations, access to a wide range of virtual resources, social services, and coping strategies.

Group education programs are also available virtually for your referred patients. Attendees will be able to interact with others who share their condition and understand their experience. AREP’s most popular program, Stay Active, will likely be of greatest interest to your patient population.

Please use this referral form and fax to 1-888-519-6869 or 1-613-723-1172
or
Suggest that your patient call AREP directly at 1-800-321-1433, Ext. 3381 or email arep@arthritis.ca .

The COF thanks the Arthritis Society for continuing to support those with arthritis when in-person services might not be available.
